The Renatus Real Estate Investing Education program is unmatched in the industry. It is based on the scientifically proven learning methodology, Instructional Systems Design. Consulting a PhD in Education and working with subject matter experts in specific disciplines of real estate investing, we developed well-structured instructional materials using objectives, related teaching strategies, systematic feedback and evaluation. We ensure our students acquire the skills and knowledge they need to become successful real estate investors.
The real estate investing curriculum, offered both online and in a live classroom, includes classes beginning at 100-level and increasing in complexity to 400-level. All classes are taught by “practitioner instructors” who work hands-on in the areas they teach, so you can be confident that the strategies are current and applicable to real-life investing! The courses adhere to the Instructional Systems Design methods so no matter what the subject and teaching style of the instructor, you will receive a consistent, effective learning experience.

Renatus Real Estate Investing programs cater to both the novice and experienced investor, and there are no prerequisites other than your desire to learn how to become a successful real estate investor. Our students range from having no previous investing experience, to the well-seasoned investor.
We offer two programs for structured learning:
The instructors play a significant role in the effectiveness of the Renatus real estate investing educational program. Hand-selected based on their expertise and track-record in the corresponding Renatus course, these professionals ensure the most up-to-date methods are presented to our students. They are practitioners in their field who also have a passion for teaching others how to apply their real estate investing knowledge in the real world.
Renatus instructors bring their years of hands-on experience and execute the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) teaching methods used by Renatus. The structured design of the courses dictates a consistent, effective, student learning experience. The learning is reinforced by the genuine interest in each student’s success, demonstrated by the instructors.
The quality of each Renatus instructor is monitored by the Curriculum Advisory Board as well as the students themselves! The students have the opportunity and are encouraged to offer their evaluation of the instructors.

Curriculum Advisory Board
Renatus is whole-heartedly committed to ongoing excellence and state-of-the-art learning for our students. We take pride in providing a superior learning experience for each student, facilitated by a top-notch team of instructors who are well-trained in the Renatus teaching methods.The Curriculum Advisory Board was formed to develop, approve, and manage the Renatus Education’s ongoing educational curriculum. Each member is well-versed in their respective areas of expertise and are available to offer advice and updates on real estate market changes and laws, as applicable, ensuring the Renatus curriculum is relevant and current. As of January 1st, 2011, the nominated and elected members of the Curriculum Advisory Board are:
Chris’ background as a high school English teacher and wrestling coach, as well as his leadership experience in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, has given him a strong foundation in education. He holds a BA with Teacher Certification from Eastern IL University, a GRI Certification from Graduate Realtor Institute, and is a Certified IL Assessing Officer with the IL Department of Revenue. He states, “My two passions outside my church and family are teaching and real estate investing. I have purchased over 200 properties on a teacher’s salary, and I have used multiple, creative strategies in doing so.” Mr. Albin always looks forward to teaching the Renatus Community his strategies for success.
After a history of entrepreneurism in several business ventures, Jeff established Armstrong Capital (www.armstrongcapital.com) in May 1991. Jeff has been working in the note business full time since October 1993. He acquired his California Real Estate Sales License in June 1992 and then his California Real Estate Broker’s license in June 1996. Jeff became a member of the American Cash Flow Association’s Million-Dollar Club in April 1996 and was designated a Master Broker in the field of private mortgages in November 1997. He was appointed a visiting instructor position for the American Cash Flow Corporation in August 1998 through August 2008 when the company dissolved. With over 1500 closed note transactions closed since the inception of Armstrong Capital, Jeff’s knowledge and experience in the note industry is unsurpassed.
In February of 1999 Jeff wrote and published his first book entitled, “Scripts and Tips: A Handbook for the Serious Note Broker” to assist new brokers in obtaining the success they are looking for in of the cash flow industry. Jeff became a Certified Appraiser of Mortgages in September 1999 through the American Appraisal Institute of Privately Held Notes and Mortgages. In July of 2002 he wrote and published a marketing book entitled “Every Single Profitable Note Marketing Idea in the World (almost)”. In March of 2005 he wrote and published “Personal Cash Flow Prosperity” detailing how he successfully operates his one-man business. In November of 2007 Jeff updated and added to his popular “Note Holder’s Handbook”. In 2011 he completed his latest aid for the real estate and note industry “Calculator Secrets” providing step by step details on calculating notes and note transactions.
Jeff is also a contributing columnist for the Paper Source Journal, Cash Flow Exclusive and other industry newsletters and publications. In May 2005, he was awarded the “Contributing Writer of the Year Award” by the American Cash Flow Journal. From April 2006 through April 2008 Jeff was the Editor of the NoteWorthy Newsletter.
Jeff enjoys competing in bass fishing tournaments and doing other activities with his family including snow skiing, camping, golf, biking, water skiing, swimming and surfing. When he is not watching his girls dance or in fashion shows, Jeff can often be found on a mountain, beach or lake.

Before joining the Renatus Team as Head Coach, Melissa was a personal real estate and internet investment consultant for 13 years. Learning various investment strategies as a student of four nationally recognized real estate educators, she put her knowledge into action. Her investment specialties include tax liens, deed certificates, trustee sales, pre-foreclosures, and fix and flip properties. Her coaching accolades include: “highest success rate of all coaches” and “Top Producing Coach”. Adept at teaching students from all walks of life at various levels of investment experience, she has been the catalyst for many of her students’ expanded residential real estate portfolios.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and doing outdoor activities with her husband and four boys!
Ryan and his wife began working as a team consulting real estate investors over nine years ago. He specializes in foreclosure auctions, fix and flips, and wholesaling. His expansive experience includes working with and holding properties in multiple states across the country.
Utilizing his years of investing experience, Ryan brings to his role with Renatus both a real-world view on real estate investing and much excitement about sharing his knowledge with the Renatus Community. He says, “Coming from the ‘school of hard knocks,’ I bring my ‘learning experiences’ to the table, sharing first-hand knowledge to help students potentially avoid the same mistakes I have made…The opportunity my wife and I have had to change our lives and the lives of our children through real estate investing, and now having the ability to share that opportunity with others, is very fulfilling to us.”
In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their four boys. He also loves to travel, camp, and having spent the past couple of years training as a tri-athlete, most weekends you will find him at a triathlon.
Earlier in his life, Darren got a job as a paint pump mechanic. As soon as he started working, he started planning to retire. Knowing that there would be years between the start and end date of his job, he started to get educated about Real Estate.
As is often a great motivator, Darren was let go from his job. He took the knowledge he had gained and started to look for investment opportunities. He found Real Estate investing intimidating. It was at this point that he was introduced to the Renatus Community.
Armed with knowledge, a community and now a partner, Darren dove head first into Real Estate investing. He has since closed 83 deals, creating a net profit of more than 1.9 Million dollars.
He is now honored to give back to the same community that enabled him to start investing.
After a highly successful sales career in the environmental industry, John quit his corporate sales position in 2000 to establish his own national environmental company, ICON Development. Capitalizing on his experience and knowledge in the industry, John grew this company to exceed $5 million in gross revenues in the first 14 months!
At the same time, John became inspired to create passive income and achieve complete, financial freedom and thus, founded Cribs, LLC, a real estate investing and property-management Corporation. Through innovative and creative investing techniques that he developed, John turned this company into a million-dollar business in just over a year. His specialty and expertise includes investing and profiting in multi-family housing units. John has refined the art of forced appreciation. “Investing is all about strategy and designing the appropriate strategy to meet your dreams.”
After developing two multi-million-dollar companies, John embarked on his third successful company, The Dessaur Group – teaching real estate investing as your gateway to life freedoms. Through The Dessaur Group, John has expanded his business to include delivering educational, inspirational, and motivational products and presentations on investing and developing your freedoms. He has presented throughout North America and has shared the stage with such notables as John Childers, world-renowned speaker, trainer and author; Robert Allen, author of Multiple Streams of Income and Nothing Down and co-author of the One Minute Millionaire; Mark Victor Hansen, co-author of the One Minute Millionaire and Chicken Soup for the Soul; and Jack Miller, real estate investor/mogul.
John’s goal is to help people invest in real estate with an outcome that positively changes their lives and brings about their life dreams. “I’m doing this because it’s more than just money. The big payoff for me is time; I can leverage my time a lot more with our real estate company and be able to teach other people to do what I did – to develop both their passive and monthly residual incomes. Mat strives to aggressively and effectively protect clients’ legal interests and his experience in the law is broad. Mat has worked in the in-house legal department of two international companies where he dealt with franchise law, trademark law, employment law, state regulatory schemes, and contracts. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Office in Utah where he prosecuted felony criminal cases from filing to trial.
In his current private practice Mat has set up over 1,000 companies for clients, has litigated in the U.S. Tax Court as well as in federal and state Courts in Arizona, Utah and California, has assisted dozens of clients in raising capital through private offerings, has advised over a thousand clients with self directed retirement investments, and has helped clients buy/sell numerous multi-million dollar businesses.
In addition to practicing law, Mat is a partner in a real estate development company, a commercial real estate holding company, and has owned and managed a title insurance agency that completed over $100M in transactions.
Mat has received many awards and recognitions for his work and was recently selected by Utah Business Magazine as a Legal Elite in the area of Corporate Counsel.
He and his business partner Darren Davis have worked together for 4 years. In that time they have completed 83 deals and generated a net profit of $1.9 MIL.
Kendall lives by the motto of Fail Forward. He believes that knowledge utilized creates experience. Experience is then maximized as you make your failures into learning experiences that create more success moving forward.
Kendall is happy to share his exact model. His purpose is to now teach others how to go and create their own success.
Kendall is happily married and is the father of 4 daughters. He and his family live in Southern California.
To date, Brian has done over 300 real estate deals and never lost money on a single transaction! With hundreds of successful real estate transactions under his belt, including subject-tos, rehabs, wholesales, and short sales, he has worked his way into the private money lending arena, where his money works for him!
As an instructor for Renatus, Brian continues to pay-it-forward by sharing his knowledge and expertise with as many Renatus students as he can.
Chris holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and has held corporate jobs in companies such as Lucent, GTE, and AG Communication Systems. His corporate jobs ranged from customer support, research and design, customer training, to marketing and sales. He has held titles of AVP Government and International Sales, Director Program and Product Management, Manager of Customer Training, and Engineer.
In real estate, his expertise lies in building real estate networks, acquiring properties and pursuing real estate strategies. Chris developed a wholesaling strategy and methodology which, although often imitated, very few have mastered at his level.
Furthermore, his skills and knowledge as a lector are in high demand for both real estate investors and real estate professionals. He speaks on real estate and business topics such as understanding markets, trends, techniques, and strategies. Chris is an instructor for Renatus and The Arizona Academy of Real Estate. He is also a full-time real estate professional doing both traditional real estate and investing. He and his business conduct hundreds of profitable real estate transactions every year. Chris continues to share his vast real-world expertise with Renatus students to assist them in achieving their real estate investment goals.
Hugh began his professional career consulting for Fortune 500 financial services companies. Next, he joined a global leader in the photo industry, rising to the top as one of the youngest directors in the company. While there he became an expert on commercial real estate transactions. He made presentations to Wall Street analysts, executive committees and senior management teams. He successfully negotiated global technology deals with Dell and Microsoft to save the company over a million dollars per year. Hugh also helped lead the technology team to win CIO magazine’s award as one of the Top 100 Agile technology teams for 2004.
In 2005, Hugh left the corporate world for good to launch his own real estate investment and consultant business. Since then, his companies have invested in projects all across the United States and overseas. In 2008, he helped launch an asset-based (hard money) lending company that lends in the NY tri-state area. Currently his companies are involved in all types of real estate transactions, from single family homes to land and condo developments. Hugh helped launch Renatus in 2011. His team has completed many different real estate transactions including a 33 bulk OREO note deal.
Hugh is a graduate of Binghamton University Watson School of Engineering, where he received a degree in Computer Science. Coming from three generations of teachers, teaching and speaking are in Hugh’s blood. He is a certified continuing education instructor in New York, Texas and Florida, and has trained thousands of real estate investors and entrepreneurs all across the United States. Hugh’s real estate and other businesses have given him the freedom to travel to all 50 states. He believes, “Shoot for the Stars and if you only get half way there you will land on the moon.”
Hugh is very close with his family including his nieces and nephew. He is an avid sports fan and soccer player. In 1996, he was invited to try out for the US Olympic Team heading to Atlanta. As a true entrepreneur at heart, Hugh even found a way to get people to pay him to run. One of his philosophies is “You can always Quit, so why Quit now!”
